Another Person's Junk...

So, now that my brother and sister and I have been out of the house for a number of years, my parents are finally going through and clearing out all of our stuff. HOWEVER, since they refuse to believe anything is junk--they want to give us one last chance to claim anything before they throw it away. My dad had the idea that he would take pictures of everything, and send it to us via a photo share program. So, every once in a while, I open up my email and see a photo album (the most recent containing 107 photos) of things that look like this:

Hmm...somehow the idea of using that dust encrusted coffee pot doesn't excite me. And I don't think it has automatic grind...

I seem to remember my little sister's high school boyfriend winning her this bear...thank god she didn't stay with him.

And really Mom and Dad...do you really think any of us would want this? Why don't we hang it up in my five year old niece's room? Did someone in my family actually like this movie so much as to buy the poster?Hmmm...what other dark family secrets will be revealed as my parents go room by room? Stay tuned...

Got the comment thing figured out! Your parents sound like mine. My brothers and I have been asked (several times I might add!) to come to my parents house and put stickers with our initials on the bottom for anything we might want someday.

That is a riot! It must have taken them a ton of time to take those 107 pictures, load them into a computer and then email you guys information. My parents would only ask if they came across something valuable (like my great grandmother's crystal) if we might want it or especially sentimental. Of course, when us kids moved out, we were instructed than anything left behind without specific instructions to store it for later was fair game as potential garbage or repurposing. We were pretty good about going through stuff and throwing it out (or having a garage sale netting $800 without selling any furniture) before moving.

My dad sends me pictures of new furniture (which I requested) and important foreign sites (The Forbidden City in China, the Great Wall, etc...) but nothing else. I send them pictures of stuff all the time - piles of snow, the cat sleeping in a cardboard box, the newest completed knitting project, or whatever I think it funny about once a week, but at least I only send 1-3 pictures.
